Under the guidance of our leadership team, the Data Analytics Consultant Intern will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Document Project Requirements:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project objectives and document clear requirements for data analysis tasks.
2. Gather Necessary Data:
- Collect and compile relevant data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
3. Review Data Quality & Completeness:
- Assess data quality and address any issues related to completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
4. Perform Analysis:
- Utilize your technical skills to perform data analysis, applying various statistical and analytical techniques to model data and extract meaningful insights.
5. Project Documentation:
- Maintain organized and comprehensive documentation of your analysis process, methodologies, and results.
6. Derive Insights:
- Interpret your findings to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights that contribute to informed decision-making.
7. Build Presentations or Dashboards:
- Create visually appealing presentations or interactive dashboards to effectively communicate your insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Capabilities:
At Compass Analytics we have a learning-heavy onboarding process. In your first four weeks, you will deep dive into the relevant tools and platforms you will be using. Over the course of your internship, you can expect to be certified on multiple platforms and gain hands-on experience. While we invest a great deal of time in training and upskilling our staff, we will give preference to candidate with skills and experience in the following platforms:
- Cloud platform knowledge: Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, understanding their capabilities and services.
- ETL and data science: Proficiency in tools and languages like Alteryx, Databricks, Python, and SQL.
- Data analysis and visualization: Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI to create compelling visual representations of data.
Minimum Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field from a Canadian university or college
- Must be either in their final year of studies or within one (1) semester of degree completion

- Strong business acumen: Understanding of business concepts and the ability to connect data analysis to real-world business challenges.
- Ability to dissect complex topics: Proficiency in breaking down complex topics into manageable components, facilitating efficient analysis.
- Analytical approach to problem solving: Strong problem-solving skills with an analytical mindset, capable of approaching challenges methodically.
- Communication & storytelling: Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tell a compelling data-driven story.
- Organized & rigorous approach: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring rigor and accuracy in analysis.
